COVID-19: Is It Rare in Neonate?

Background: The Global pandemic COVID-19 affects mainly adult population with serious devastating effects in some of them, particularly those chronic comorbidities. It is less common children and rare neonates.
 Objectives: aim study was to identify the neonates so that we can give proper emphasis on neonatal COVID-19.
 Methods: This cross sectional conducted from April 2020 August at Dhaka Shishu (Children) Hospital Bangladesh. Neonates suspected COVID- 19 were tested for SARS-CoV-2 virus by RT- PCR positive cases included study. Data collected statistical analysis done SPSS version 26.
 Results: Out 1714 admitted neonates, 32 (2%) positive. Male 21(67%) female 11 (33%). Majority (28,88%) term. Twelve (38%) 20 (62%) came outside Dhaka. Only 4(13%) found within 3 days, among them 2 (6%) 24 hours age. Nine (28%) RT-PCR test 4-7 days (59%) 8-28 days. Most belonged medicine (24,75%) 8(25%) associated surgical diseases. Sepsis present 17(53%) cases, perinatal asphyxia pneumonia 6(19%) cases. Fourteen discharged after improvement, 12 referred designated hospital, transferred corona unit 4 died.
 Conclusion: In this a good number affected COVID-19. Perinatal asphyxia, sepsis association So management prevention transmission disease, it should be properly addressed DS (Child) H J 2020; 36(2): 101-106
